What is Big Beach Brewing Company?
Big Beach Brewing Company is the southernmost brewery in Alabama, located in the heart of Gulf Shores. It is a family-owned local business and a newer addition to the area. For Big Beach, it all began in the summer of 2015 when dentist Dr. Jim Shamburger searched for a spot to bring his dream of crafting one-of-a-kind beer for his community to life. The Shamburgers opened the brewery in the middle of the Waterway Village District, and the rest is history!
What's the Big Beach Brewing Experience Like?
A hotspot for locals and visitors alike, Big Beach is a wonderful place for family, friends, and groups of any size to gather and unwind. You can expect a leisurely feel during the day and a celebratory atmosphere at night. Four large garage doors allow the coastal breeze to flow right into the taproom at any time of day, so your visit is bound to be enjoyable!

The facility also welcomes leashed dogs in outdoor areas where there is plenty of room for them to romp. Kids will also love the plentiful green space surrounding the brewery! Bonus tip: Plan to take a brewery tour with your group. Every hour, visitors are led through the facility and taught all about the taproom's brewing techniques. Just listen for the sound of a cowbell; that's how you'll know a tour is about to start!
Great Brews
Of all breweries in Gulf Shores, Big Beach is the most elaborate. The facility boasts a 10-barrel brewing system and four specialized fermenters dedicated to crafting a variety of ales. The Big Beach Brewing beers include IPAs, Stouts, Cream Ales, and Belgian-style beers. Each brew has a clever name, too - there's the "Mr. Tallymon" Hefeweizen and the "Midnight Cruise" Porter, just to name a few.
