The Lone Palm is a Lovely Custom Beachfront Home in the West Beach area of Gulf Shores, located steps from one of our favorite areas, Lagoon Pass.
The wide great room has huge windows with incredible beach views and opens to a large porch with outdoor seating and dining.
On the main floor there are two bedrooms, each with an adjoining bath. On the West side is a king bedroom with a private bath. On the East side there is a room with a full over full bunk, with a twin trundle, next to a hall bath. The hall has two built in twin bunks. There is also a large laundry room on this floor.
The Top Floor features a large beachfront King Master Bedroom with Private Beachfront Porch and a bath that features a double vanity, a water closet, a separate shower, and a tub with an incredible view of the beach. The second bedroom on this floor is a queen and a daybed with a private bath.
Great porches on both floors offer Amazing Views of Gulf Shores Sugar White Sand Beaches. And you'll find more outdoor living space under the house with a grill, picnic table and space for lounging around.
The house sleeps up to 12 (max of 8 adults). Sorry, we are unable to accommodate groups under the age of 25.
The Lone Palm is 3 miles west of Hwy 59, just beyond Lagoon Pass, one of our favorite areas for watching heron and watching the fish run in and out with the tides. It is a quiet family-friendly area but still just minutes from restaurants, shops and attractions.

This was our second year in a row to stay here. We noticed some upgraded outdoor furniture and chairs at the dining room table. Both were great upgrades. Whoever the lady was that cleaned the house needs a raise because the house was so clean and smelled fresh for days! Only issues we noticed were....#1 the bathroom door in the master for the toilet would not close. it was like the house had shifted or the door was swollen. #2 The last night we were there the smoke detector in the master started beeping because it needs a battery. #3 as we were checking for anything left behind we noticed the dishwasher had standing water in it. Not sure if something is wrong with it since we didn't use it. #4 the ice maker in the fridge was slooooow at making ice. None of these affected our stay though...just some look outs. The house is amazing and the location is great. We love staying here.

We have stayed here three years now. The house fits our group very well. The location is excellent. We love the beach access and the small crowds in this location. Every evening ends on one of the two decks talking, relaxing and watching and listening to the surf.

While the house was spacious, nice and in a great location, it was in need of a few minor repairs.
In addition, several of the towels needed to be replaced as they were worn & dingy (looked like cleaning rags).
Upon check in, numerous towels were damp and smelly. ***We did NOT like the fact we were responsible for washing all towels before checking out.*** (Could have been part of the reason for damp, smelly towels upon arrival). I question the sanitation of this policy.???
The men would have liked operating instructions posted beside of the TV.
Alexa was not working properly.
On a positive note, housekeeping was very accommodating.

Location, location, location. This beautiful home is in a great spot with a beautiful beach. The photos didn't do it justice. It could sleep a lot more than our family; we loved the hall bunk beds. The upstairs master was to die for. Did have a couple of loose handles that will probably be tightened up after we left. What else could I say, everything we could possibly need was there. We could tell the decor has been updated recently and the complimentary tickets to attractions was a nice surprise. Depending on how many additional family members want to come next year, we would like to go back.

Being right on the beach is perfect. We spent a lot of time there. The property is close to local restaurants and attractions, and away from hotels and congestion. We loved the house and space. Our issues were with the dishwasher, table chairs and dishes. The dishwasher needs repairs or to be replaced; door does not stay open properly and bottom rack was missing wheels. The table chairs are wicker and are breaking apart. Our group had younger kids (like I'm sure most visitors do) and the dishes should be non breakable (instead of china). Kitchen is stocked with plenty of pots, utensils and a good coffee maker.

We had a group of friends gather together from Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska and spent a wonderful week in September at Lone Palm. We spent a lot of time out on the decks watching the sun rise and set, drinking coffee and enjoying the sounds of the waves. This property has great beach access and is close to some wonderful restaurants that we tried. LuLu's, Hangout, Flora-Bama and the Sunset Corkroom were some of our favorites and then we ended at Scoops Ice Cream shop. This home is beautiful and has such a great view to enjoy.

My family and I just had the most relaxing vacation this week. Our first stay at Lone Palm, we found the house stylish yet comfortable with plenty of space to enjoy the beautiful beach and amenities. We especially enjoyed the deep, covered balconies where we spent the majority of our time watching the water, wildlife and kids play. We can’t wait to stay here again.

Lone Palm is in an EXCELLENT location. The beach could not have been better - everyone from our 3 year old to the grandparents enjoyed it thoroughly. There was plenty of space for all 8 of us and we had a great time! We loved that it included many of the necessities we would need during our trip. While the home was clean, it could use a good deep clean and the living room couches will need to be replaced soon. There were plenty of beach toys and floats for the kids as well. We would not hesitate to rent this home again and would definitely stay in this area again.

In spite of tropical storm Claudette, we had a blast in Gulf Shores! We love staying on West Beach, the perfect location with everything just a very short drive away. My husband enjoyed the fact that we were only a few houses from the lagoon inlet where he was able to do a little fishing. (The water was too rough for his kayak though.) Lone Palm gave us the space we needed for adults and kids and being right on the beach made it fun for all. There were a couple of maintenance issues reported to management after our departure (non emergency).

Great home and great location. Lots of space. Our only negative is that the home next to use was rented to about 15 college students that blared music from 2 pm to 2 am (not sure if that home had the same age restrictions - but they were not 25), and the day we left another group of 10 college students showed up at that home :) But other than that it was a good week.

A call to the company renting the house next door usually helps and the Gulf Shores police will also enforce the noise ordinance. We've found the best results can come from an early conversation reminding the neighbors that they are among families. My wife and I rented Lone Palm for February 2020 and immediately booked it for the following year. Great location on the beach just past Lagoon Pass, so less populated (at least in Feb!). House is really nice overall with great room and too floor Master BR with amazing views. Love the balcony off the living area (could hang there all day). GSVR (property managers are super responsive and terrific staff... got a problem, they are on it immediately). Perfect house for having a few guests while having the master upstairs. Only quibbles would be updating some of the appliances and living room furniture. But we loved it and WILL be back!

My family stayed in this home at the end of July. It is fully equipped with plenty of dishes for a large group (we had 10 people), towels and a closet of beach items (boogie boards, chairs, etc). The bedrooms are large as is the main floor area and everything was very clean. It is about a 10 minute drive to the center of town which made it quiet and the beach uncrowded. Our only issue was the shower curtains are all very lightweight so blow inward when you are showering. This could be fixed with heavier weight curtains with magnets. The beach is beautiful and we had daily viewing of dolphins. Really a wonderful place to stay!

This was my family's first time in Gulf Shores and all of us had a great time! The house was perfect for our 4 families. There was enough space, bathrooms, beautiful view and very easy access right out to the beach! If we decide to make the 11 hour trek again next year, we will be choosing Horns Hideaway!! Our family of 10 had a wonderful time staying in our Gulf Shores home. Just a short sandy walk to beach from our door, we enjoyed a beautiful view from our two covered balconies, with comfy furniture. We even saw some dolphins, egret, and pelicans. Our neighbors were considerate and quiet, as we were. The kitchen was an absolute pleasure, fully stocked!! Our family enjoys cooking fresh seafood and baking. Bedrooms and baths very nice, dining room table easily accommodated the 10 of us, since we enjoy family meals and game nite. The upstairs master suite balcony door does not lock, definitely needs repaired. Keyless entry very nice. Unfortunately, we left a day early because of the storms, we didn’t want to deal with flooding. We notified you in advance of our plans. So sorry our vacation had to end abruptly. Next year we intend in renting again through Gulf Shores, but a larger unit due to 3 of our adult grandchildren bringing significant others. Will be contacting you to help us locate the perfect home “on the beach”.

Horn’s hideaway was a wonderful location and beautiful home! Emmy whole family stayed for a week with my one year old son for his very first beach trip and everything was absolutely perfect! There was a crib mattress and multiple baby gates in closets for us to use! The views are amazing every morning! The master bedroom/bathroom is wonderful! The kitchen was stocked with plenty of utensils and dishes, and plenty of blankets, towels, pillows, etc.! I will make sure to book this home again when we come back to Gulf Shores! It is just down the road to all the hustle and bustle yet feels like we are out on Fort Morgan! I loved it, this is my new favorite spot!

Our experience was wonderful. We had 4 families come together to celebrate a birthday, and had plenty of room. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies and everything was in perfect condition. We definitely will be back!

The only thing that needs to be changed to make this rental perfect is to change the standard sized bed in one of the 1st floor bedrooms to a king sized bed. The standard bed is too small for grown adults to sleep comfortably. The mattress seems to be old and needs to be replaced.

We appreciate the feedback. The main floor east bedroom has a queen sized bed. That won't change right now, but if a new mattress is needed, it will get one. Right now the bedding configuration includes 2 king bedrooms, 2 queen bedrooms (one of which also has a daybed). There are also two built-in hall bunks.

We chose Horn’s Hideaway based on the budget we had as a family to spend. It was right on the beach and the house was even better in person! Everything was clean and the kitchen was stocked well with everything we need to cook dinners! Everyone was happy with this rental and we will consider returning.

This property was all that it was advertised to be and more. The layout worked well for us, allowing different ages to have separation/space when needed. All the furniture both indoors and out was comfortable. All appliances worked (although we did not use the TV). The views from the balconies were wonderful.
There were a couple of things that could improved:
The home sleeps 11 and there were very few towel racks in any of the bathrooms. Hooks on bathroom doors would have been nice for hanging robes.
Many of the lamps did not work, whether the bulbs were burnt out or lamps were not plugged in, we did not know. We did not go around moving furniture to see. The lightening in the downstairs bathrooms was horrible.
It was terrific that the garbage was picked up so frequently and the trash bin was magically moved to the street by someone other than ourselves.
There are so many options for vacation all along the Gulf of Mexico. Although, we had a super time, I have heartburn with paying $289 for cleaning AND then later receiving an email telling me I need to wash all the towels myself, before we leave.

We appreciate the feedback! We aren't sure why so many lamps were unplugged, but they were--an easy fix. We'll re-evaluate the towel bars etc at the end of the summer and will make improvements as needed. I don't think we've heard that before. Regarding cleaning, we do ask if you'll put the towels in the wash and get it started, and we are extremely thankful if you'll throw them in the dryer and start another load. We even provide laundry detergent for your entire stay to make that easy. Why? because guests don't leave wet towels on the beds or carpet when makes a terrible mess (we know you wouldn't do that anyway) AND, even better, it dramatically reduces the number of items left behind that you are going to want and need later. So much easier to take them when you go!

Just completed an extended winter stay at Horns Hideaway and had an enjoyable experience at our adopted home away from home. It was our second stay at this property and we appreciated the extensive maintainance and upgrades that had been completed over the last year. Everything was as described and GSVR were attentive to any needs that arose during stay. This location west of lagoon pass is noticeably quieter that our previous rentals further towards 59 and that was appreciated. The best recommendation that I can give is the fact we plan to return

We were pleasantly surprised to walk in December 22nd and see the white and gold Christmas decorations all lit - and table decor as well! We left our small tree we brought in the car. The kitchen was well appointed with ample dishware and silverware for a small army. There were plenty of towels, chairs to take to the beach, a grill, and being right on the beach was great for the kids. The dining table sat 8 easily, and 10 in a pinch, the island had more chairs. We enjoyed watching sunrises from the porch and balcony. There was plenty of room for the 9 of us - beds for worked quite well for us as an extended multi-generation family. The MBR was particularly nice and spacious. Everything was clean. We would recommend this to another family, or to a group of 3 couples.

This place exceeded the description given. The location was perfect. We played on the beach but the house was just steps away. Everything was clean and in order ready for our stay. The porches are divine to sit and listen to the ocean and to have that view with the ocean breezes without stepping a foot in the sand. The manager was very helpful with a small problem we had with the icemaker. They had someone out before the day was gone. Loved this place. Would highly recommend this beautiful place.

Horns Hideaway far exceeded our expectations. This was our first time to stay in Gulf Shores proper vs fort morgan. We enjoyed being closer to everything and we never even heard the noise from the road unless you were standing outside near the parking. The views were great, stepping directly on the beach was very enjoyable. The house was clean and decorated very nicely. We will definitely be renting again.

My family and I felt so at home and comfortable with this vacation home. We especially appreciated how well kept the property was! Everything upon arrival was clean and tidy. Most if not all the essential needs were readily available which was awesome. The home itself was just beautiful! Decor and layout included. The views every morning and night, breath-taking.
Only cons:
The doors to each balcony didn’t lock. They seemed to be sealed from some built up rust. Wasn’t a huge deal but it still would’ve been nice to have the assurance that they locked—just for security purposes.

FAQs
Can we leave beach chairs out overnight?
Leave Only Footprints: the clean beach ordinance requires that everything be removed by sunset each evening. Beach patrol will remove any items left on the beach, and you will not be able to retrieve them. If you are in a beachfront home you may leave items at the base of your dune walkover.
How far in advance can we make a reservation?
We accept reservations up to 51 weeks before arrival. We do maintain a waiting list for summer weeks and holidays and can contact you if, before that time, we hear your requested beach home will be available.
