1. The Wharf in Orange Beach
The Wharf in Orange Beach is a development on the Intercoastal Waterway with a number of great Gulf Shores restaurants, an array of local shops, a Rave Movie Theater, indoor miniature golf, the Southeast's largest Ferris wheel, an outdoor concert amphitheater, a marina and more. While it would be easy to spend the day at any of the top Gulf Shore restaurants or attractions here, its local shops are not to be missed. With an extensive list of beauty and health, children's, clothing, jewelry and specialty stores, Gulf Shores shopping is at its best at The Wharf. Want an insider tip? Sanroc Cay is a small, waterfront shopping center with several mouth-watering restaurants, fun boutiques, and a charming marina. If your visit to Gulf Shores coincides with a fishing tournament, Sanroc Cay is a great spot to watch tournament fisherman bring in their catch. Between stops at one of the 10 locally-owned boutiques and stores, you can enjoy beautiful views of the marina from the boardwalk, or get out on the water with boat and diving rentals, dolphin cruises, para-sailing, and chartered trips. At Sanroc Cay, you will find goods for the home, swimwear, children's clothing and toys, and more!
3. Original Oyster House Boardwalk
While the Original Oyster House Boardwalk Shopping Center is small, it is worth the visit for the foolproof combination of good food and good shopping. Started as an extension of the Original Oyster House restaurant, the accompanying boardwalk and stores offer a selection of gifts, candles, t-shirts, jewelry, beach accessories, children's toys, and more at the handful of local shops. Find southern charm and women's fashion at Geez Louise Boutique, flavorful spices and sauces at Joe & Dave's Sauces and Seasonings, and other Gulf Shores souvenirs and sweets at the Original Oyster House Trading Company, Retro Road Trip and Hurricane Sno.
4. Windmill Market
For visitors looking for truly regional gifts, Windmill Market is worth the 45 minute drive from Gulf Shores to Fairhope, AL. The open air marketplace has three restaurants, a local grocery, live music on the weekends and Southern craft beer on tap. Windmill Market supports the work of local farmers, artists, antique dealers, bakers, and entrepreneurs who sell their products seven days a week. On a stroll through the market, shoppers will find handmade arts and crafts, photography, furniture, gifts and accessories, candles and soaps, and much more.
